Vale of York, winner of the 2009 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, has been sold to the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club to stand at Haras des Faunes in Arveyres, France for the 2016 breeding season.

The 8-year-old son of Invincible Spirit previously stood at Kildangan Stud in Co. Kildare, Ireland. He has sired two crops of racing age, led by Italian Group 3 winner Fontanelice, French Group 3-placed Pleasemetoo, and Irish stakes-placed Galway Bay.

Campaigned and previously owned at stud by Sheikh Mohammed Al Maktoum’s Godolphin, Vale of York won three of seven career starts for earnings of $1,237,320. His 2-year-old season included a win in the Stardom Stakes in England and a runner-up finish by a neck in the Italian Group 1 Gran Criterium before shipping to Santa Anita Park, where he won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile in an upset blanket finish over eventual champion Lookin At Lucky.

Vale of York was bred in Ireland by Stock Vale Ltd. and is out of the unraced Halling mare Red Vale, who is the dam of two winners from five runners. He is from the family of Group 1 winner Sound Print, Group 2 winner Batshoof, and Grade 3 winners Uraib and Ancestral.
