Jockey Jose Valdivia Jr. broke his collarbone in a spill in Sunday's Cinema Breeders' Cup Handicap at Hollywood Park, the third spill on the program.

Valdivia was injured when he fell from New Joysey Jeff in the stretch of the turf race. New Joysey Jeff was moving into contention near the eighth pole when he ducked out and unseated Valdivia, who was clear of the trailing runners.

There were spills in the two races preceding the Cinema Breeders' Cup Handicap.

In the fifth race, jockey David Flores was unseated from Bruisen Susan in the stretch. Bruisen Susan, the 5-2 favorite, clipped heels with a rival causing Flores to be unseated. He was taken to a local hospital for precautionary X-rays but was released two hours later. Bruisen Susan did not appear to be harmed.

In the sixth race, Valetto, the 2-1 favorite, broke down after finishing 10th in a maiden claimer. Valetto fell after the finish, unseating jockey Kerwin John, who walked off. Valetto, a 5-year-old Victory Gallop horse, was euthanized on the racetrack.
