INGLEWOOD, Calif - Valbenny, unraced since winning a maiden race in Scotland in July, pulled an upset in Saturday’s $100,000 at Hollywood Park.

Valbenny ran a mile on turf in 1:36.58, rallying wide through the stretch to catch 5-2 favorite Mystic Soul in the final 20 yards to win by three-quarters of a length. Spenditallbaby finished third, a neck behind Mystic Soul, in the field of 12 2-year-old fillies.

Valbenny ($20.60) was ridden by Alex Solis for a partnership and trainer Alex Solis. Valbenny was 10th for the first six furlongs. She rallied wide on the final turn, but did not reach contention until the final furlong.

Valbenny has won two of four starts and $70,153. Valbenny was making her first start beyond seven furlongs in the Miesque Stakes.
