Vaders again gets stay of suspension

Jayne Vaders, the leading trainer at Philadelphia Park last year, will be able to continue to train horses while she awaits an appeal of a ruling upheld by the Pennsylvania Horse Racing Commission to revoke her license.

A Pennsylvania Commonwealth District Court issued the stay after Vaders appealed the ruling by the commission to revoke her license last week, according to Alan Pincus, Vaders's attorney. The commission was upholding a decision by the stewards at Philadelphia Park in May 2007, to revoke Vaders's license because of multiple medication violations.

Vaders had also been issued a stay of the stewards' ruling last year, so she has continued to train at Philadelphia Park almost without interruption since the initial ruling. The stewards issued the ruling after a horse trained by Vaders tested positive for the tranquilizer acepromazine. It was Vaders seventh positive test for a prohibited medication in Pennsylvania since 1995, according to a spokesman for the commission, Chris Ryder.
