Untouched Talent remains unbeaten

DEL MAR, Calif. - Untouched Talent remained unbeaten after two starts with a three-length win in Saturday's $150,000 at Del Mar, but the margin was deceptive.

Jockey Victor Espinoza did not urge Untouched Talent in the final sixteenth and could have won the race by a wider margin. Untouched Talent ($5) ran 6 1-2 furlongs in 1:18.20.

Espinoza had Untouched Talent in fourth after a quarter-mile, took command along the rail on the turn and led by 2 1-2 lengths in the stretch. Outofthepast rallied from fifth to finish second, three lengths in front of 32-1 Smart 'n Quiet in the field of seven 2-year-old fillies.

Untouched Talent has won stakes in both of her starts. Owned by a partnership and trained by Jeff Bonde, she won the Juan Gonzalez Stakes at the Alameda County Fair in Pleasanton in her debut on July 1. A $500,000 purchase at the Barretts March Sale of 2-year-olds in-training, Untouched Talent has earned $113,550.
