Undefeated Peppers Pride eyes New Mexico's big day

EmailPeppers Pride, the undefeated filly who is 11 for 11, could make her next start on 11/11. Trainer Joel Marr said Peppers Pride is being pointed for the New Mexico Cup program at Zia Park on Nov. 11. She is a candidate for the $170,000 Filly and Mare Championship.

Peppers Pride last raced July 29, winning the $45,000 Lincoln Handicap at Ruidoso Downs by a half-length. She was set to run in August, but the race she was entered in did not fill, and Marr said a decision was made to freshen her for fall races such as the New Mexico Cup.

Peppers Pride has been working at Zia and breezed a half-mile in a bullet 48 seconds Monday. She began her career with a trial win at Ruidoso on July 16, 2005. Peppers Pride, 4, has since won eight stakes and earned $551,405. She is a daughter of the Fappiano stud Desert God and she races for her breeder, Joe Allen.

Zia, which is conducting a mixed breed meet, has carded two major Quarter Horse races for Sunday. The $134,628 Hobbs America Derby will go as race 5, and the Grade 2, $265,459 Hobbs American Futurity is race 6.
