Uncle Mo's dam up for sale at Fasig-Tipton November

Email

Playa Maya, dam of Breeders’ Cup Juvenile contender Uncle Mo, will go through the auction ring at Fasig-Tipton’s Nov. 7 mixed sale in Lexington, Ky., consignor Denali Stud announced Saturday.

Her sale will come a day after her son is to run in the Juvenile at Churchill Downs.

The 10-year-old Playa Maya, a daughter of Arch, is in foal to Broken Vow and is in the catalog as Hip No. 122.

Respite Farm currently owns Playa Maya. The stakes-placed mare is the dam of three winners from three starters: Forest Voices, Grosse Pointe Anne, and Uncle Mo. Repole Stables’ Uncle Mo, by Indian Charlie, won the Champagne Stakes on Oct. 9 by 4 3/4 lengths. He also won his only other start to date, a maiden special weight at Saratoga, by 14 1/4 lengths.

Todd Pletcher trains Uncle Mo, whose earnings stand at $216,000.

Michael Cavey, DVM, bred Uncle Mo.

Playa Maya finished third in the 2004 Dade Turf Classic Stakes and the 2003 Lagniappe Stakes.

She is the sole registered foal out of the Dixieland Band winner Dixie Slippers, also bred by Cavey.
