Unbridled Behavior scores

Unbridled Behavior, the second-longest price at 11-1 in a scratch-reduced field of five, took advantage of a three-way pace duel to close fastest of all and win the $60,000 Chesapeake at Colonial Downs.

Ridden by Erick Rodriguez, Unbridled Behavior sat fourth while stalking a contested pace, rallied four-wide on the turn, gained the lead in midstretch, and won by 1 1/2 lengths, paying $24. Time for the six furlongs was a quick 1:09.30. The first quarter was run in a 22.08 seconds and the half in 44.70.

A 4-year-old gelding by Unbridled's Song, Unbridled Behavior is trained by Melissa Begley for Robert Atkinson. It was his fifth win in 17 starts.

Mister Supremo, the 5-2 second choice, survived a three-way early battle to hold second by 1 1/4 lengths, and Hi Time Scott, the 19-1 outsider, rallied from last for the show.

High Blitz, sent off as the 1-2 chalk under Horacio Karamanos, was caught in the pace battle, racing between horses up the backstretch and into the turn, and backed out soon after straightening for home, finishing last.
