Type A Personality seeks rebound

Type A Personality heads a field of 10 accredited Ohio-bred 3-year-olds in the $50,000 Horizon at River Downs. Trained by Eric Reed, Type A Personality has won three races this year, including the $50,000 Green Carpet on May 31. In that 1 1/16-mile turf event, the same distance and surface as the Horizon, Type A Personality overcame quite a bit of trouble and a bumping incident in the stretch to prevail by a half-length.

The Green Carpet was for 3-year-old Ohio registered horses, a less restrictive condition than accredited, as both the sire and dam of accredited horses must be in Ohio. With registered horses, only the dam must be in Ohio.

In his most recent start, Type A Personality finished a well-beaten sixth in the $100,000 Cleveland Gold Cup at Thisteldown on June 28.

Call It the Blues will be well backed after winning his last two starts, both over the River Downs turf course. On June 10, Call It the Blues won an open claiming race against older horses. He then came back July 8 to win by a nose, this time at a mile against the same company.

Buzz Bunny comes into the Horizon off two straight sprint wins for trainer Tim Hamm. Buzz Bunny won an entry-level allowance race against older Ohio-breds on July 8 by 1 3/4 lengths and another Ohio-bred allowance race July 18 by 2 1/4 lengths. It will be the first try over the River Downs turf for Buzz Bunny.
