Two top Woodbine sale at $190K

Morgan Firestone bought both co-sale-toppers, for $190,000 apiece, during the select session of the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society's Canadian-bred yearling sale at the Woodbine Sales Pavilion on Tuesday.

Firestone's first sale-topper is a three-quarter sister to Canada's reigning champion 2-year-old filly, Simply Lovely. A daughter of Bold n' Flashy, the filly was consigned by Gail Wood's Woodlands, as agent.

The other $190,000 purchase is a son of Perigee Moon consigned by Park Stud. The colt is a half-brother to stakes winner Ruby Park, along with five other winners.

A total of 151 yearlings grossed $5,898,500. The average price, $39,063, was 5 percent higher than last year's average of $37,162. In 2004, 171 yearlings brought $6,354,700.

Fifty-one yearlings were listed as not sold, compared with 99 last year.

The sale is to continue with preferred sessions Friday and Saturday.
