Two Shine Again favorites look shaky

Take a Check and Katie's Love, the first two choices on the track's morning line, both appear vulnerable in the $50,000 Shine Again, a 1 1/16-mile stakes for Maryland-bred fillies and mares Saturday at Pimlico.

Although Take a Check (8-5) was good enough to finish third in last summer's $1 million Delaware Handicap and has been in the money in 10 of 17 stakes appearances, she has lost her last 15 races since her last victory in March 2006.

Katie's Love, the second choice at 5-2, comes into the Shine Again on a 10-race losing streak and is 0 for 7 at Pimlico. Her last win on dirt came in February 2006.

The two best alternatives appear to be Miss Lombardi and Seattle's Bodgit.

Miss Lombardi returns to the main track at Pimlico, where she is 2 for 3, following a nose win and a career-best 87 Beyer on Keeneland's Polytrack.

Seattle's Bodgit stretches out for her second start of 2007. The last time she switched from seven furlongs to 1 1/16 miles, Seattle's Bodgit romped by more than 17 lengths.
