Two pick sixes pay five figures


There were five-figure pick six payouts at both Belmont Park and Churchill Downs on Wednesday.

At Churchill, 11 winning $2 tickets, each worth $24,791.60, were sold on the pick six. Three favorites, including two at odds-on, were on the winning tickets.

A carryover of $104,494 into the Wednesday card came after five straight days of the wagering going unhit; the all-sources handle on the pick six, which is held on races 5 through 10, was $276,896. Five of six winners returned $172.60.

There were five winning tickets on the Belmont pick six, each worth $42,006. There was a carryover of $51,626 into Wednesday's card and the final pool totaled $281,612. The consolation payout for five of six winners was $412.50.

Although odds-on favorites were beaten in the first two legs of the Belmont series, three of the winners in the sequence paid less than $8. The other winners paid $14.60, $22.40, and $26.40.
