Two jockeys were taken to the hospital and a horse was euthanized as the result of a five-horse spill in the sixth race at Charles Town on Friday night. The accident was the second involving five horses in the Mid-Atlantic region in two days. On Thursday at Delaware Park, jockeys Jose Ferrer and Victor Carrasco were injured in a five-horse spill. Majestic Cat, ridden by Ramon Maldonado, fell entering the stretch of the 6 1/2-furlong race for $5,000 claimers at Charles Town on Friday. Three horses fell over Majestic Cat, and another stumbled, unseating his rider. Two others were bothered during the accident, but their riders stayed aboard. Maldonado was placed on a backboard and transported to Jefferson Memorial Hospital. Despite being stepped on during the accident, he was released from the hospital Friday night and is expected to ride Saturday evening. Victor Rodriguez, the rider of Noland's Cross – who fell over Majestic Cat – got to his feet after the accident, went to the nurse's station, but then elected to go to the hospital. He had neck pain but was released from the hospital, according to his agent, Arlene McCanns. Rodriguez is off his mounts Saturday but is not badly injured, according to McCanns. Jockeys Carlos Castro, Luis Rodriguez, and Carlos Delgado escaped serious injury. Bullet Bobby, who stumbled during the spill and was eased, reportedly collapsed and died on the way back to his barn. Majestic Cat, Vasten, Noland's Cross, and Masons Dream left the track under their own power and did not appear to be badly hurt.
