Two go in 9.80 at Barretts show

A pair of colts by Gimmeawink and Not For Love stopped the clock in 9.80 seconds for their eighth-mile works Thursday, making them the day's fastest workers over that distance at the Barretts May juvenile sale's under-tack show.

Thursday's under-tack show was the first of two sessions at the Fairplex facility in Pomona, Calif.

Hip No. 28, a colt by first-crop sire Gimmeawink out of Countrywishingwell, is a half-brother to stakes-winning Calico Bay and is consigned by Eddie Woods, agent. Hip No. 73, the Not for Love colt, is out of Gallelujah, who also is the dam of the winner Jack the Duffer. Hip No. 73 is consigned by Ciarana Dunne's Wavertree Stables agency.

Thursday's fastest quarter-mile breeze was the 20.80-second work by Hip No. 121, a Harlan's Holiday filly out of Leading the Way. The filly, a half-sister to winner Proscenium, is consigned by Murray Smith, agent.

Hip No. 66, a Cherokee Run-Flirty Frosty colt, posted the afternoon's fastest three-eighths-mile work. The time was 33.60 seconds. The colt is consigned by B.C.3. Thoroughbreds agency.

The second and final under-tack show was under way at Fairplex on Friday, with results expected to be available that night. The auction is to take place on Tuesday, May 13, starting at 11 a.m. in the Hinds Pavilion at Fairplex.
