Two fillies tie for fastest furlong at OBS breeze show

The first day of the under-tack show for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. March sale of 2-year-olds in training was Thursday, with a pair of fillies tying for the fastest time at an eighth of a mile at 9 4/5 seconds.

• Hip 132, a Shanghai Bobby filly out of the stakes-placed Yankee Victor mare Yankee Victoria. All three of Yankee Victoria's foals to race are winners, including Whisper Light, a Group 2 winner in Trinidad and Tobago.

Bred in Florida by Kris R. Del Giudice, the filly is from the family of Grade 3 winner Fistfite and Argentine Group 2 winners The Best Sing and Seattle States. She is consigned by SBM Training and Sales as agent and was a $110,000 short yearling purchase at last year's OBS winter mixed sale.

• Hip 141, a Scat Daddy filly out of the unraced Royal Academy mare Accusation. The dam's eight runners are all winners, including Grade 3 winner Sharp Sensation and stakes-placed Edgerin J, True Religion, and Innocent Man. Bred in Kentucky by Hunter Valley Farm, the filly's page features Epsom Derby winner Benny the Dip, Grade 3 winner Cryptic Rascal, and English Group 3 winner Beggarman Thief.

Hartley/De Renzo Thoroughbreds consigns the filly as agent. She was a $160,000 weaning purchase at the 2016 Keeneland November breeding stock sale and finished under her reserve with a final bid of $335,000 at the following year's Keeneland September yearling sale.

Four horses tied for the fastest time at a quarter-mile, finishing in 21 1/5 seconds.

• Hip 55, an Orb colt out of the winning Awesome Again mare Stick to Your Guns. He hails from the family of Grade 3 winner Marco Be Good, Grade 2-placed Rprettyboyfloyd, and Grade 3-placed She’s Vested and Pioneer Empire. Eddie Woods consigns the colt as agent.

• Hip 59, a first-crop Uncaptured colt out of the unraced Rock Hard Ten mare Suite Ten. The dam’s first runner is a winner, and the page features Grade 1 winner Student Council, Grade 2 winner Class Kris, and Grade 3 winner Classic Value. The Florida-bred is consigned by Pick View as agent.

• Hip 99, a first-crop Fed Biz colt out of the winning Empire Maker mare Tulipmania. The New York-bred is a half-sibling to Tulipmania’s one winner from four runners, and he hails from the family of Grade 1 winner and Broodmare of the Year Take Charge Lady, putting him on the same page as champions Will Take Charge and Take Charge Brandi as well as Grade 1 winner Take Charge Indy and Grade 3 winner Straight Story. De Meric Sales consigns the colt as agent.

• Hip 151, a Pioneerof the Nile colt out of the stakes-winning Stormy Atlantic mare American Lady, who has had one runner. Grade 1 winner Stormello is in the extended family, as are Grade 2 winners All Bar One and My Best Brother and Grade 3 winners The Pamplemousse and Gala Award. This colt is also consigned as agent by Woods.

The horses breezed over the Ocala Training Center’s all-weather Safetrack surface. The breeze show continues daily through Saturday, beginning each day at 8 a.m. Eastern. The auction will take place March 13-14, with sessions starting at 10:30 a.m.
