Two fillies run quickest at Barretts preview

Fillies by Cactus Ridge and Decarchy topped the eighth-mile work tab Monday at the under-tack show for the June 24 Barretts 2-year-old and racing-age sale.

Both fillies covered a furlong in 10.20 seconds as the day's fastest workers over the distance. Hip No. 131, a daughter of Cactus Ridge and Miz Riz, by Cox's Ridge, is in the L & R Bloodstock agency's consignment. Hip No. 163, consigned by Sam Hendricks, agent, is by Decarchy out of Cleverness, by Clever Trick.

The public workout session took place at Fairplex in Pomona, Calif.

Hip No. 135, a gelding by High Demand out of the Summer Squall mare Nordic Weather, had the day's fastest quarter-mile time of 22 seconds. He is in the Havens Bloodstock agency's consignment.

Two horses shared the fastest time for three-eighths, traveling in 34.80 seconds. One was Hip No. 18, Robadorable, a 4-year-old Robannier filly that Havens Bloodstock Agency is offering on behalf of the Robert H. Walter Family Trust. The filly is out of stakes-winner Ivory Bowl and is a full sister to stakes-winner Robador.

The other was Hip No. 42, the 5-year-old Helmsman gelding Madera Corsair, a half-brother to stakes-placed Serene in Seattle that Sam Hendricks has consigned on behalf of Madera Thoroughbreds.

The one-day auction was to start at 11 a.m. Pacific time on Tuesday.
