Email

ARCADIA, Calif. - There is a two-day pick six carryover of $407,077 on Friday at Santa Anita, the first two-day carryover in more than two months at this track.

The carryover was announced on Friday after the eighth of nine races, the fifth leg of the pick six. There were no winning favorites among the first five winners of the pick six.

There is no live racing at Santa Anita from Tuesday through Thursday. With a three-day gap between live racing days, the pool of new money in the pick six should exceed $1.5 million, and possibly approach $2 million.

Friday’s eight-race program begins at 3 p.m., Pacific. The first pick six race, the day’s third race, is due off at approximately 4 p.m.

The lineup of races includes a maiden claimer over 1 1/16 miles that drew a field of eight, a $25,000 claimer over a mile on turf that drew eight runners, a $16,000 claimer over six furlongs with nine entrants, an optional claimer over 1 1/8 miles on turf that will have a maximum field of eight, an optional claimer over six furlongs with seven runners, and a maiden claimer on the hillside turf course that will have a maximum field of 10.

The last two-day carryover was $551,927 into the March 21 program. On that day, bettors added $1,591,204 to the pool. There were 582 winning tickets, worth $2,409. Three favorites won pick six races on the March 21 program.

In SoCal, A 400k carryover with 3 days to wait for it, would usually mean another 2-3 million added to it. Times have changed in CA.

It's just so easy to "get down" on CA and NYRA racing. I was a 4 day a week player, but have realized the only value is at 3 meets. Both Kee and Saratoga. The rest are just chalk city. Put some cards together with 8-9-10 horse fields and get your volume back up.
