TV Eclipses are named

WLKY-TV, a television station in Louisville, Ky., has been selected as the recipient of the Eclipse Award for 2006's best local television program, and Pony Highway Productions and HorseRacing TV have been selected as the recipient for the Eclipse Award for the year's best national television feature, the National Thoroughbred Racing Association announced Thursday.

WLKY-TV was selected for a one-hour documentary entitled "The Final Foal." The program followed Maggie Slew, the last foal sired by Seattle Slew to be born, through the first three years of her life. The program was produced and photographed by Scott Eckhardt and written and narrated by Jon Boel.

Pony Highway Productions and HRTV were selected for a documentary entitled "On the Muscle: Portrait of a Thoroughbred Racing Stable." The documentary followed Southern California trainer Richard Mandella through his stable's operation in 2003, culminating with Mandella's record-setting Breeders' Cup performance that year, when he won four of the event's eight races.

"On the Muscle" was produced by Robin Rosenthal and Bill Yahraus of Pony Highway. The executive producer of HRTV is Amy Zimmerman.
