Turn to Lass ($28.80) wins the $50,000 Martha Washington on Monday at Oaklawn Park.

Turn to Lass, who won a six-furlong allowance race eight days ago, led throughout to win the $50,000 Martha Washington at its new one-mile distance Monday at Oaklawn Park. Attendance for the holiday program was a meet-high 30,136.

All Electric finished three-quarters of a length back in second, with Yoursmineandours another 2 1/4 lengths back in third. Saltwater Runner, the favorite, had one horse beaten on the first turn and rallied for sixth in the field of 11.

Turn to Lass dueled with All Electric through fractions of 23.99 seconds for the opening quarter-mile and 49.16 seconds for the half-mile. The eventual winner pulled clear in the stretch, then veered in a little in the late stages but maintained her advantage. Turn to Lass covered the distance over a track rated good in 1:41.63.

Roman Chapa rode Turn to Lass for trainer Eugene Brajczewski. The filly earned $30,000 for her first stakes win. Overall, she has won 4 of 8 starts and $138,760 for Hurstland Farm and Kevin McLaughlin. Turn to Lass is a daughter of Bright Launch.
