Lotta Lovin reaffirmed her fondness for the Turfway Park surface Saturday when romping to a 10 1/4-length victory in the 23rd running of the $50,000 Likely Exchange Stakes at the northern Kentucky track.
Getting a great stalking trip under Shane Sellers in the field of 12 fillies and mares, Lotta Lovin returned $4.40 as the heavy favorite. Yankee Union, the 4-1 second choice, was a clear-cut second after also getting a good inside trip and finishing 3 3/4 lengths before Off Limits.
Lotta Lovin, owned by Buck Butler and trained by Mike Maker, ran the one-mile distance in 1:39.54 over Polytrack. She now has won 4 of 5 races, all stakes, over the Turfway Polytrack and was entered off a third-place finish in the six-furlong Holiday Cheer in her prior start, her only defeat at Turfway.
“We really felt like she was coming back around after that last race,” Maker said.
Lotta Lovin is a 4-year-old Pennsylvania-bred by Repent. She now has won 7 of 18 starts.
The $2 exacta (7-2) paid $18; the $1 trifecta (7-2-9) returned $87.10; and the dime superfecta (7-2-9-10) was worth $96.14.
Best Bets
BIG JOHN B takes a short drop off the claim and layoff, which could be viewed as a negative, but he has some decent works for this return and he has a decent-sized Beyer edge against this group; tactical speed should help him work out a favorable trip. SKIFFS BREWMEISTER merits respect off that last win and figure, his best yet; dangerous if he's able to take another step forward. BRODY BOY finished off the board in his turf debut but he earned a decent figure despite running 7th there, and he did endure a fairly tough trip; most recent workout at Parx indicates he retains his form.
