Turfway: Easy score for Angela's Love

Angela's Love was at her best in the $50,000 Fairway Fun Stakes at Turfway Park, making the early lead under virtually no early pressure and rolling to an 8 1/4-length victory.

The race was over soon after it began. She easily hit the front under Mark Guidry, capitalizing on awkward starts from Poison Oak Camp and Small Promises, and after setting splits of 23.83 seconds, 46.98, and 1:10.61, had little trouble outrunning her six opponents. She pulled away in the stretch from Secondary School, who had launched a bid on the final turn, while running 1 1/16 miles in a blazing 1:40.85 over a quick main track.

Angela's Love ($5.60), a 4-year-old daughter of Not for Love trained by Dale Romans, improved her record to 5-0-0 in eight starts. In winning her first stakes race, the $24,800 winners' share of the purse boosted her earnings to $114,320 for owners Bill and Vicki Poston.

Secondary School held on to finish a clear second, 4 1/2 lengths in front of third-place Jaramar Rain. Small Promises, Strike Rate, Mariaworth, and Poison Oak Camp completed the order of finish.
