Turf Paradise: Market Day victorious

Market Day, an English expatriate who had been thoroughly whipped in her two Southern California outings, both dirt sprints, moved back to turf and to a route in Turf Paradise’s $45,000 Scottsdale Handicap and got back on track with an easy victory.

Trained by Eoin Harty, Market Day sat last of five in the about-a-mile turf event for 3-year-old fillies, made a powerful run through the lane, and bounded clear to win by 2?1/2 lengths. Cool All Over had the lead in midstretch and finished second. Point Me the Way, who set the pace, faltered to third. Staten Island, the 3-5 favorite, never threatened.

Market Day ($13.80), ridden by Anne Von Rosen, covered the distance on firm turf in 1:36.15.
