The 5-year-old mare E Z Kitty, ridden by Scott Stevens, wins her second stakes since coming to Turf Paradise last month in the Kachina Handicap.

PHOENIX – E Z Kitty confirmed herself the top female horse at Turf Paradise with an easy victory in Saturday’s $35,000 Kachina Handicap.

Owned by Mike Chambers, John Xitco , and Dan Agnew and trained by Chambers, the 5-year-old E Z Kitty dominated the mile main-track event. A multiple stakes winner at Emerald Downs prior to coming here,  she easily captured the six-furlong Phoenix Stakes here Dec. 19. E Z Kitty showed here she’s as good or even better routing as she cruised right out to the lead under Scott Stevens - subbing for injured Gallyn Mitchell -  spurted clear turning for home, and romped home by 4 3/4 lengths while geared down as the 3-5  favorite.

Carrie Rose lagged back, made a run at the winner turning for home but couldn’t keep pace, though she finished second far clear of the others. Racing for Gold rallied for third in the field of seven.

E Z Kitty ran the mile in 1:35.86 and paid $3.40. The winner’s purse of $21,266 gives her earnings of $119,582 from 8  wins in 13 starts.
