ARCADIA, Calif. – Three prominent 3-year-olds worked Wednesday in Southern California.

Turbulent Descent, the leading 3-year-old filly on the circuit, worked five furlongs in 1:00.60 at Hollywood Park. The winner of the Grade 1 Hollywood Starlet last month, Turbulent Descent will make her 2011 debut in the $250,000 Las Virgenes Stakes over a mile at Santa Anita on Feb. 5.

J P’s Gusto, winner of the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity, worked five furlongs in 1:00.20 at Santa Anita. He is likely to start in the $250,000 Robert Lewis Stakes over 1 1/8 miles on Feb. 12, trainer David Hofmans said.

Jaycito, who beat J P’s Gusto in the Grade 1 Norfolk Stakes at Hollywood Park in October, worked three furlongs in 37.40 seconds at Santa Anita. The workout was Jaycito’s first since owner Ahmed Zayat transferred the colt from trainer Mike Mitchell to Bob Baffert following a seventh-place finish in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile on Nov. 6.

Baffert said he has no short-term races in mind for Jaycito, although the $150,000 San Vicente Stakes over seven furlongs on Feb. 10 is likely to enter discussions.

“Our goal is the Kentucky Derby,” he said.
