Trust N Seven beats older rivals

Trust N Seven made quick work of her older rivals when defeating 11 Indiana-bred fillies and mares in the $70,000 Merrillville at Hoosier Park on Saturday. Trained by Mike Lauer, Trust N Seven won her third stakes of the year, with the first two coming against 3-year-old fillies.

Jockey Leandro Goncalves kept Trust N Seven back early in the six-furlong event before asking for her best. She responded, closing with a rush and getting up to win by a length. Pacesetting Blu Vapor hung on for second, a neck in front of Arro Echos in third. Trust N Seven ran the six furlongs in 1.12.1 over a fast track and returned $5.80 to win.

Trust N Seven has won at six furlongs as well as a mile on the turf this season, and Lauer appreciates her adaptability.

"She is good long or short, she will do anything you ask," he said. "The pace hasn't been coming back to the speed lately, but she responded when she was asked."

Lauer plans on running Trust N Seven on Indiana Derby Day, Oct. 3, in the fillies division of the Hoosier Breeders Sophomore Stakes.
