GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - True Tails proved much the best in the $50,000 Wafare Stakes at Lone Star Park on Saturday, when she was a dominating, seven and three-quarter length winner of the six-furlong race for 3-year-old fillies. She covered the distance in a stakes-record time of 1:08.76.

The previous Wafare mark of 1:08.85 was set in 2004 by Everheart.

True Tails ($3.80) broke on top in the Wafare, and was up by a length and a half through an opening quarter in 21.55 seconds. She increased her advantage through a half-mile in 43.72 seconds, and was well clear in the stretch. Ketchmewhereyoucan finished second in the Wafare, three-quarters of a length in front of third-place finisher Lady Carmen.

"She hit another gear at the top of the lane," said Jamie Theriot, who rode the winner for trainer Cole Norman.

True Tails earned $30,000 for the win, which was her fourth from seven starts. Her earnings now stand at $112,330. She races for Marie Troncone, and is a daughter of Yes It's True.

Norman said the summer objectives for True Tails are the $150,000 Stonerside at Lone Star on May 30, and the Grade 3, $300,000 Azalea Breeders' Cup at Calder Race Course on July 9.
