True Metropolitan heading to Woodbine stakes

Trainer Terry Jordan confirmed that True Metropolitan, who won the Sovereign Award as Canada's top older horse on dirt last year, will head to Woodbine following his expected 2007 debut in the $50,000 George Royal Stakes at Hastings next Saturday.

True Metropolitan will be condidered for the Grade 3, $150,0000 Eclipse Stakes at Woodbine on May 21, and then pointed for the Grade 3, $200,000 Dominion Day at Woodbine on July 1, Jordan said.

"If it looks like he fits we'll keep him there," Jordan said. "If not, the plane goes both ways and we'll bring him back to Hastings for the Lieutenant Governors, which goes on the same day [as the Dominion Day]."

True Metropolitan, who was the 2006 horse of the year in British Columbia, raced twice in Ontario last year. He won the Woodbine Slots Cup and finished third in the closing day Valedictory.

Jordan is also planning on sending five other horses to Woodbine.

"I'm not sure which horses we'll be sending with him," he said. "We'll start them once out here and then decide which ones will fit the best at Woodbine. I just received the news that I had been given stalls, so we're still trying to sort everything out."
