ETOBICOKE, Ontario—While the favored Moonlit Promise was stuck in traffic, longshot Tiz Imaginary got a trouble-free trip along the inside en route to a daylight score in the $143,300 Duchess Stakes at Woodbine on Sunday.

R Girls a Charmer set a rapid pace, with Moonlitediscretion taking up the chase in the seven-furlong sprint for 3-year-old fillies. Tiz Imaginary raced along the inside in third under Emma-Jayne Wilson, and then found a split in the No. 2 path early in the stretch, before drawing clear to win by 1 1/2 lengths, in a time of 1:23.56.

“Watching her replays, she’s a pretty impressive horse, and she has a nice late run,” said Wilson, who explained that trainer Mike Doyle said “to let her be where she’s happy, and see what unfolds. My horse had a nice path inside the speed along the rail. A beautiful hole opened up, and as soon as I asked her, she shot right through like an old horse.”

Moonlit Promise was squeezed back at the start before awaiting room from about the quarter pole until the sixteenth pole, where she emerged from traffic on the outside to secure second by a neck over Calling Rhy Rhy.

A daughter of Tizway, Tiz Imaginary ($32.40) earned $90,000 in her second stakes victory for Windhaven Farm.
