Trojan Victory keeps rising in class to take City of Phoenix

Trojan Victory continued her ascent as the 6-year-old mare captured Saturday’s $25,000 City of Phoenix Stakes at Turf Paradise.

Owned by Tommy Huttons Dreams Stable LLC and trained by Drew Fulmer, Trojan Victory had won an $8,000 claimer locally Nov. 14 and a $12,500 claimer Nov. 23.

Stepping up to face stakes company in this six-furlong stakes, Trojan Victory stalked the pace under Daniel Vergara, pushed her way to the lead into the lane, and drew off to win fairly comfortably by three lengths. Table Mesa was second, just ahead of Catch Lorraine in the field of eight fillies and mares. Beautiful Holiday, the 2-1 favorite, stalked the pace but gave way badly to finish last.

Trojan Victory ran the distance in 1:08.81 and paid $27.40. The winner’s share of $15,000 pushes her career bankroll to $138,872 from 14 wins in 35 starts.
