Trickey Trevor takes over in Oakland

Email

Trickey Trevor ($17.80) sat behind Stone Rain's suicidal fractions before pulling clear in the stretch as he won the $51,775 Oakland Stakes at Golden Gate Fields.

Trickey Trevor was fourth down the backstretch, 5 1/2 lengths behind Stone Rain, who opened up by three lengths with a 20.92 opening quarter. Stone Rain was still 3 1/2 lengths in front at the quarter pole after a 42.73-second half-mile.

Stone Rain was still in front in the stretch but was tiring as Trickey Trevor easily went by him. The 8-year-old Trickey Trevor, showing the form he displayed in winning the Grade 2 Churchill Downs Handicap one year ago, easily maintained a lead over fast-finishing The Pharaoh, who was 1 1/2 lengths back. Court's in Session was third.

Trickey Trevor finished the six furlongs in 1:08.96 for his 19th win in 42 starts. His earnings of $28,150 lifted his career total to $664,841.
