Tribal Rule early leader in California’s sire standings

Through the first quarter of 2013, Tribal Rule leads all California sires by earnings, winners, repeat winners and races won.

The 17-year-old son of Storm Cat has 30 winners of 43 races through March 25, including 11 repeat winners, for earnings of $952,794. His most successful runners of 2013 include multiple stakes winner L. A. Weekend and stakes-placed A Toast to You, Ismene, and Tribal Dreams.

Another of his foals, Urban Hunter, set a new track record at Golden Gate Fields for 5 ½ furlongs in 2013, covering the distance in 1:02.81.

Tribal Rule stands at Ballena Vista Farm in Ramona, Calif., for an advertised fee of $6,500.

To date, Tribal Rule has sired 213 winners from eight crops of racing age, including Grade 1 winner Georgie Boy, Grade 3 winner Alphie’s Bet, Grade 1-placed stakes winner Rush With Thunder, and Mexican champion Mexican Loop.

Bred in Kentucky by Pam and Martin Wygod, Tribal Rule won two of four career starts, never finishing worse than second, for earnings of $77,600. Out of the winning Grenfall mare Sown, Tribal Rule is a half-brother to Grade 1 winner Key Phrase.
