Trainer Edwin Anspach dead at 92


Edwin Anspach, a leading trainer in New England for many years, died on Monday in Ocala, Fla. He was 92.

Among the stakes winners campaigned by Anspach was Historian, who beat champion Armed in the 1946 Arlington Handicap. Historian also won the Sunset Handicap at Hollywood Park that year.

A memorial service for Anspach was scheduled for Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Robert Funeral Home in Ocala, Fla.

Anspach is survived by his stepdaughter, Sabra, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
