Trademark preps for Dubai Duty Free

Trademark, winner of the Bernard Baruch and Fourstardave for Kiaran McLaughlin at Saratoga last summer, will line up in the Al Rashidiya Stakes at Nad Al Sheba on Saturday night for his new trainer, Sateesh Seemar.

The 1 1/8-mile listed turf race is a prep for the Group 1 Dubai Duty Free on March 27. Trademark, who has not run since finishing sixth in the Shadwell Turf Mile at Keeneland on Oct. 4, will face eleven opponents in the $140,000 contest, which is part of the Emirates Racing Association's Dubai International Racing Carnival. Chief among them is Right Approach, a former inmate of Michael Stoute's in Newmarket who is now trained in Dubai by South African ace Mike de Kock.

Unraced since Oct. 18, the 5-year-old son of Machiavellian is dangerous off his career best when third in the one-mile Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot in June. He will be joined by stablemate Surveyor, who is coming off a third-place finish to D'Anjou in the Group 3 Al Fahidi Fort.

Checkit, third in Newmarket's highly competitive Cambridgeshire Handicap, and Sign of the Wolf, winner of the Group 3 Prix Andre Baboin at Lyon-Parilly last fall, will also be in the hunt.
