Trainer Greg Tracy could only manage to win two of the four stakes at Northlands Park on Saturday. The last time Northlands had a stakes festival, Tracy swept the four stakes on May 28. Blue Dancer, one of Tracy’s four winners May 28, kicked off the festivities with a win in the $48,500 Spangled Jimmy. He paid $3.80. With Quincy Welch aboard, Blue Dancer dueled with Killin Me Smalls right from the start before drawing  clear late to win the one-mile race for 3-year-olds and up by a half-length.  Killin Me Smalls held on to finish a clear second over Private Money. The final time over a track rated fast was 1:36.07. Owned by C. and H. Duggan Farms Ltd. and Shot in The Dark Racing Stable, Blue Dancer was the champion 3-year-old in Alberta last year and has won both stakes for older horses at the current meet. Tracy also won the $61,100 R. K. “Red” Smith Handicap for 3-year-old fillies with Onestaratatime ($12.60). Breaking sharply with Rico Walcott riding, she was an easy 8 3/4-length winner over Bootleggers Wife in the one-mile race. C U At Eau Claire, also trained by Tracy, was sent off as the odds-on favorite, but after chasing her stablemate, she tired to finished third. The final time was 1:37.06. Quality Lane took advantage of a fast and contested pace to win the $51,850 John Patrick for fillies and mares. She paid $21.70 for her head win over Truvi in the one-mile race. Ridden by Rafael Zentano Jr., Quality Lane was last in the eight-horse field after a half-mile in 46.33 seconds. Truvi, who was seventh early, took over the lead at the top of the stretch but couldn’t hold off the winner. Blameitontheknight came from a stalking position to finish third. Trainee by Joan Petrowski, Quality Lane posted a final time of 1:38.64. Ready Intaglio was bet down from his 12-1 morning lined odds and paid $8.10 for his head win over Hold the Giant in the $50,000 Ky Alta Stakes for 3-year-olds. Trained by Amber Meyaard, he was ridden by Shamaree Muir in the one-mile race. The final time was 1:38.16.
