Tracy has the filly to watch

EDMONTON, Alberta - Last week, fans at Northlands Park were treated to their first look at the top 2-year-old colts and geldings in Alberta in the Edmonton Juvenile, and this week the top 2-year-old fillies and mares will take to the track in the 24th running of the Princess Margaret.

While there is little to work with in terms of past performances, one of the favorites will be Greg Tracy's entrant, Another Lovelysong.

In her debut, she finished seventh against the eventual Edmonton Juvenile winner, Excellent Blend. In her next start, she responded well and took an early lead that she never relinquished, easily handlng the field. A Washington-bred, Another Lovelysong defeated Ol' Fifty, who finished second to Excellent Blend last week. All indications are that Another Lovelysong will be the post-time favorite after her strong recent workout times.

The race features plenty of early speed, with Another Lovelysong, Cool Rebel, and Classa Red Wine all expected to battle for the lead, with the rest of the field stalking.

Considering that none of the entrants has traveled six furlongs in her young careers, it should be a highly intriguing race. Those who perform well will point toward the $50,000 Filly Sale Stake on Aug. 16.
