The dirt runners swept the superfecta with the first turf horse finished about 10 yards behind the dirt winner in Saturday's Battle of the Surfaces, a 20-horse field featuring runners on turf and dirt at Canterbury Park.

Canterbury Park will offer the Battle of the Surfaces, a race featuring 20 Thoroughbreds, with post positions 1-12 being run on turf and post positions 13-20 run on dirt.
On Sunday, a newly configured MTA Stallion Stakes will debut. The male and female divisions were consolidated and the purse pumped up from $35,000 to $55,000.

In the Lady Canterbury, history repeated itself as last year’s off-the-turf Lady Canterbury winner, Awesome Flower ($8), did it again, storming down the lane late and overtaking the favored Gold Medal Dancer to win by three-quarters of a length.

Heavy favorite Sky and Sealed rolled home by 11 1/2 lengths and Speed Is Life pulled a mild upset in the co-featured stakes for 3-year-old Minnesota-breds on Friday’s holiday card at Canterbury Park.
Before a crowd of over 17,000, longshots captured the two stakes at Canterbury Park Thursday evening.
