Torvell entry heads Buffalo Stakes


WINNIPEG, Manitoba - Trainer Chad Torvell swept both divisions of the C.T.H.S Sales Stakes with What Four and Goin N Style. On Saturday he has entered both horses in the Buffalo Stakes here at Assiniboia Downs.

The Buffalo, a one-mile race for 2-year-olds bred in Manitoba, will carry a purse of $35,000 and attracted a field of 10.

What Four enters the Buffalo with a two-race win streak, having defeated a maiden special weight field Aug. 17 prior to winning the fillies division of the Sept. 3 Sales. Tim Gardiner has the mount.

Her entrymate Goin N Style, who won the colts and geldings division of the Sales, will be ridden by Brian Harding.

Other contenders include Rare Deputy, who defeated a maiden special weight field in his second career start Aug. 5, and Halo Alo, who won his first two career starts, including the North Dakota Stallion Stakes, before finishing fifth in the North Dakota Futurity here Sept. 2.
