Top three from Pair of Deuces tangle again

The allowance feature at Louisiana Downs Saturday is a rematch of sorts as the one-mile test for 3-year-olds brings together the top three finishers from last month's $50,000 Pair of Deuces Stakes.

Saturday's race carries a $27,000 purse and has no conditions other than the sophomore age restriction.

Lone Star Special picked up his second consecutive stakes win in the Pair of Deuces – after winning the Incredible Ease Stakes here May 24. The Danny Pish charge has found new life on the grass and shown the ability to stalk as well as set the early pace. He will break from the rail in the seven-horse field under Iram Diego.

Lee's Spirit came within three-quarters of a length of Lone Star Special in their last meeting and gets an additional half-furlong of real estate to work with. The late-runner will be getting in his final prep race in here before next month's $100,000 Shiskabob Stakes on Louisiana Downs Champions Day. Don Simington rides for trainer Robert Schultz.

Pursue a Dream also was running late in the Pair of Deuces. Trained by John Locke, he finished fourth in the $100,000 U.S.A. Stakes and a troubled sixth in the Grand Prairie Turf Challenge at Lone Star earlier this year. Francisco Torres will ride.

Heresyasign invades from Evangeline Downs and will be making his turf debut.
