Top Corsage next target for Category Seven

Category Seven has not met a turf course in Louisiana or Texas that she can not handle. A winner at Evangeline Downs, Fair Grounds, Lone Star Park, and Louisiana Downs, Category Seven picked off her second straight allowance win in the region on Sunday and now has three upcoming stakes goals. First up is the $50,000 Top Corsage at her Louisiana Downs base July 3.

"She's a good mare," said Ken Hargrave, who trains Category Seven for James Perron. "We put her on the grass and she just kept winning. We've been awfully lucky to win nine [turf] races with her."

Category Seven is 9 for 18 on the grass, and 10 for 36 overall. Her latest win came last Sunday at Louisiana Downs, when she rolled home by two lengths in an allowance run over the 7 1/2-furlong distance of the Top Corsage. One start prior, Category Seven was a clear winner of an Evangeline Downs turf allowance May 14.

"The race here and at Evangeline, she just moved at the eighth pole, just went on about her business," said Hargrave.

Hargrave said later this summer, he would like to see Category Seven defend her title in the $50,000 Matron at Evangeline Downs on July 24. The other regional stakes goal for her is the $50,000 River Cities on the Super Derby undercard at Louisiana Downs on Sept. 25.
