9. Johnny Sellers, Hail to All, 1965

Often overlooked in the rankings of great jockeys, Johnny Sellers rode a cool-headed, gutsy race between horses on Hail to All to outfinish Tom Rolfe and First Family in one of the five Belmonts contested around three turns at Aqueduct in the mid-1960’s while the venerable Belmont grandstand was being rebuilt. This victory made up somewhat for a disappointing ride by Sellers in the 1961 Belmont Stakes aboard Carry Back, a day in which he rode four winners but lost a Triple Crown bid.
