TOBA elects nine new members

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Fifteen members, including nine new members, were elected to the board of trustees of the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association during a board meeting Wednesday in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., the organization said.

The nine new members of the 32-member board are: Bill Casner, Reiley McDonald, Garrett O’Rourke, Rosendo Parra, Daisy Phipps Pulito, Rick Porter, Sasha Sanan, Bill Shively, and Arnold Zetcher. The six re-elected members are: Reynolds Bell Jr., who was also re-elected as chairman; Jeffrey Lewis; Tom Ludt; Richard Mandella; J. Michael O’Farrell Jr.; and Dr. J. David Richardson.

Also at the meeting, Peter Willmott was reelected chairman of the American Graded Stakes Committee, and the organization’s board approved the appointment of William Fairish Jr. and Michael Levy to the six-member committee. The committee, which is administered by TOBA, evaluates all black-type stakes each year to determine grades, and it is next scheduled to meet in December.

Fairish and Levy will serve for three years, and they replace Rollin Baugh and Bill Heiligbrodt, whose terms had expired.
