Tiz Imaginary, under Luis Contreras, comes from last to score by a half-length in the Fury for 3-year-old fillies.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario—Tiz Imaginary overcame a troubled trip to upset the favored Jennifer Lynnette in Sunday’s $150,000 Fury Stakes, a prep for the June 12 Woodbine Oaks.

Jennifer Lynnette went straight to the front and proceeded to set moderate splits in the seven-furlong event for 3-year-old fillies. Tiz Imaginary ($11) was steadied while in tight along the rail heading into the turn, and then dropped back to trail some five lengths off the lead.

Tiz Imaginary made her way between rivals at the quarter pole before closing strongly to prevail by a half-length over Jennifer Lynnette. Crumlin Spirit finished third after lacking room in deep stretch.

Luis Contreras rode Tiz Imaginary for trainer Mike Doyle, who also saddled Crumlin Spirit.

“She really impressed me,” said Contreras. “Most of the time when you get caught like that, the horse never gives you that response, but I just tried to stay calm. I waited until the quarter pole to make my run.”

Tiz Imaginary, a daughter of Tizway, earned $90,000 for Bill Graham’s Windhaven Farm.
