Tioga: Sunday 7/22 Analysis

Email

MEET STATS: 39 - 131 / $223.80

Best Bet: MAJOR LOOK (4th)      Spot Play: STIRLING BRIGADE (1st)

Race 1

(2) STIRLING BRIGADE was driven as patiently as possible in his Tioga debut but came home with good late energy. He draws inside today and is on my radar as a horse to watch. (3) AWESOME DEO has a similar profile to the top choice. He was trounced in NYSS competition and now tackles much easier; barn change. (1) NO SWEET STUFF looked like he needed last week’s race. (7) JBS BEACH ISCAPE could be a speed player. (5) NANCYS SKYSCAPE moves into a live barn.

Race 2

(4) JOHNNY GRIPPA made a monster brush to the front last week and looked like a good thing. On paper, he looks like a lock in this spot. (2) KONJO N should get away close to the action and sit a nice trip. (6) PEMBROKE CRANKCALL won his last start at this level.

Race 3

(5) EASTEND EDDIE swept the field from last in his most recent try. It is hard not to like a horse that has won four in a row and five of six starts. (2) AMERICAN RAGE seems to be going better for trainer Ed Hart. (1) WINBAK DIMENSIONS should push away from the cones.

Race 4

(4) MAJOR LOOK just beat the top ranked filly in the nation, American Jewel. This race should be a walk in the park. (3) BLACKJACK PRINCESS is back at the proper level and should be chasing the top one from the pocket. (5) CENTRALIA HANOVER is back on track now; chance with trip.

Race 5

(6) IDEAL CHAMP blitzed a field of older pacers last time at Pocono. His prior races were all against horses that would crush these. (2) LAWGIVER HANOVER faced some sharp foes last week at the Meadowlands. He was a solid NYSS winner two starts back. (4) STEELHEAD HANOVER has only missed the board twice in 19 career tries. (1) TWIN B HOLLISTER enters a new barn; maybe.

Race 6

(1A) JAMIE SUE might be stuck in post 8 but just looks best on paper. Unless they bet her heavy, I’m on her bandwagon. (3) MARINADE HANOVER has been a bridesmaid more than a bride lately. (4) ARODASI needs some pace help but has a big shot if they mix it up on the engine.

Race 7

(4) UNION MAN HANOVER is hard to peg for sure because he has been chasing others recently. It’s time for him to step up and take charge today. (5) STATION THREEOHSIX finds a field with enough speed to set him up. (9) E STREET PLAN has high speed and a 12 for 13 in-the-money record this year. (6) BET ON THE LAW is hard to toss.

Race 8

(6) AUTOMATIC TELLER adds Bartlett and gets the narrow call. (3) DIAMOND STAR should make an easy lead and sit a trip. (5) OPAN HEART was driven ultra-conservatively last week. Normally I would jump all over him this time, but he moves back up in class. If he doesn’t win, he’ll drop again next week.

Race 9

(4) CELEBRITY SCANDAL took care of business upon arrival last week and outdraws his main rivals today. (6) MY BUDDY MASON is also coming off a win; must use. (9) NOTREADYTOBENICE gets some serious class relief but may have to close from last; tough call.

Race 10

(4) FINN MAN was used hard when last seen here. I’ll give the gelding another shot. (7) ARUBA SUNSET drops back down to a level where he has performed well. (1) BREAK EVEN has speed and could be tough if allowed to get away with soft fractions.

Race 11

(4) BLUE BOY might be moving up in class but is razor sharp and picks up a top driver. (1) WAR AND PEACE is another which is going well now; using. (7) STOREUM has been racing well and gets a favorable driver switch.
