After suffering a defeat in her first start of 2018, Dan Patch Award winner Youaremycandygirl was back on the winning side of the ledger today in the last of three $40,600 New York Sire Stakes events for 3-year-old pacing fillies at Tioga Downs. In contrast to the Saratoga race where she was fired up and went way too fast on the front (26 4/5, 53 3/5, 1:22 2/5), Youaremycandygirl rated kindly for Yannick Gingras on this day, stepping off stations of 27 4/5 and 57 1/5 before picking up the tempo to a 1:23 4/5 three-quarters.  Pocket-sitter Painted Lady (Scott Zeron) took a shot to the outside in the lane, but Youaremycandygirl held her off easily, winning by a measured three-parts of a length in 1:51 1/5.  Solitary (Marcus Miller) came on to grab third. "When she was relaxed going to the gate I was really happy," Gingras remarked.  "Obviously she got wound up last week, but today she was well-behaved.  Obviously with those fractions I would have been real surprised if someone had beaten her.  She had plenty left.  I just let her do her thing.  She's got to race back in six days (Fan Hanover eliminations at Woodbine Mohawk Park), so we weren't going to time trial or anythinglike that, just try to get around the track and work on her manners a little bit.  She'll be back in to go on Saturday." Youaremycandygirl is an American Ideal filly trained by Ron Burke for owner W.J. Donovan.  She visited the winner's circle for the tenth occasion, and she now sports a bankroll of $915,915.  She was the 2-5 favorite and returned $2.90 to win. Back in the opening flight, Tell Me A Joke (Jim Morrill Jr.), a 5-1 shot, would defeat 1-2 favorite I'm Trigger Happy (Zeron) by a length and a half in 1:53 2/5 after leading through fractions of 28, 57 1/5, and 1:24 3/5 with the public choice locked in the two-hole.  Jewels Forreal (Matt Kakaley) brushed from eighth to third in the final quarter. "I was able to put him in behind me," Morrill Jr. said about the way the race worked out with him on the engine.  "Post positions were in my favor today, so I got things my way." Gareth Dowse trains Tell Me A Joke, an Art Major filly, for owners Howard Taylor, Judith Taylor, and Blue Chip Bloodstock Inc.  She is now a three-time winner in her life, and she has earned $44,742.  She paid $12.80 to win. Ubettergo Go (Mark MacDonald), a winner in the first leg for the division at Saratoga, was the quickest winner on the day, taking the middle section in 1:50.  She grabbed the lead from post seven at the 26 4/5 opening quarter, and after middle-half panels of 55 1/5 and 1:22, a 28 second final kicker got her to the wire three lengths to the good over Wisdom Tree (Zeron), who also scored at Saratoga.  Pelican Blue Chip (Morrill Jr.) took third. "I was just keeping the bit in her mouth.  She was very comfortable doing what she was doing, so I was just letting her pace along a little bit," said MacDonald, who added that Ubettergo Go will also take on open company in the Fan Hanover next.  "She's got a real, real big motor in her.  I really wasn't too worried.  She was good in Saratoga; I never popped the plugs or anything.  Head of the stretch today I just pulled the plugs and just tapped her a couple to see what she had, and she opened up.  Last 100 yards I just shut her right down." Trainer Blake MacIntosh also co-owns the victorious Art Major filly with partners Tony Basile, Reg Petitpas, and Ozzie MacKay.  This was Ubettergo Go’s fifth lifetime triumph, and she pushed her earnings to $142,169.  She was the 7-5 favorite and returned $4.90 to win.
