Timeform: Street Cry a 127+

Timeform has given Street Cry a rating of 127+ for his 4 1/4-length victory in the Dubai World Cup on Saturday night. While that is the best figure awarded on the card, it is only marginally better than Captain Steve's 127 last year, the "+" meaning that Timeform believes Street Cry may be better than they have rated him.

But Street Cry's rating pales when compared to the 142 earned by Dubai Millennium in his 2000 World Cup triumph. Almutawakel got a 126 for his win in 1999, so Timeform apparently does not think that Street Cry is quite ready to conquer the world.

Essence of Dubai, whose victory in the 1 1/4-mile UAE Derby was timed as 1.72 seconds slower than Street Cry in the World Cup, was rated 115 by Timeform. In last year's UAE Derby, which was run at 1 1/8 miles, the victorious Street Cry was rated at 121, so it appears that Timeform does not think too highly of Essence of Dubai's effort at Nad Al Sheba.

Caller One's 4 1/2-length romp in last year's Dubai Golden Shaheen was pegged at 129 by Timeform. His repeat victory was not as impressive this year, as reflected by his Saturday rating of 124.

Dubai Sheema Classic winner Nayef was rated at 124+ as compared with 126+ for his victory last October in the Champion Stakes. Grey Memo earned a solid 123 for his last-to-first tally in the Godolphin Mile. In the Dubai Duty Free, the troubled runner-up Noverre got a 125, three pounds better than the victorious Terre a Terre, who had a perfect rail trip.
