Poplar Creek Horse Center in Bethel, Ohio, has released the fees for its 2018 stallion roster, led once again by Tidal Volume, whose fee is unchanged at $3,000. The stakes-winning son of Tapit was Ohio’s most active stallion of the past breeding season, with 54 reported mares bred. His first foals are yearlings of 2017. A pair of Poplar Creek stallions will stand for increased fees in 2018. Indy Wind, a son of A.P. Indy, will be advertised for $2,500 after previously standing for $2,000. His runners are led this season by multiple Grade 2 winner Starship Jubilee. Also standing for a higher fee in 2018 is Mixmaster, a son of Medaglia d’Oro whose price increased to $2,000 from $1,000. Stakes-placed Mixed Colors is his top runner of 2017. Kiss the Ghost, an unraced son of Ghostzapper, will make his debut in 2018, standing for $1,500. The 3-year-old is out of the Grade 3-winning Kris S. mare Kiss the Devil, whose three winners from six runners include Grade 3 winner Kiss Moon and Grade 3-placed stakes winner Kiss Mine. Kiss the Devil’s daughters also include the dams of English Group 2 winner Besarah and Grade 2-placed stakes winner Big Handsome. Bred in Kentucky by CPF Thoroughbreds, Kiss the Ghost’s extended family includes Grade 1 winner Nell’s Briquette and Grade 3 winner Nonios. Aeneas, David Copperfield, and King of the Roxy each had their fees moved to private for the upcoming season after previously being advertised at $1,000.
