Ticket to Seattle takes first stakes

Ticket to Seattle won the first stakes of her career with a wire-to-wire victory in the $75,300 Peach Blossom at Delaware Park. Miss Tizzy finished second in the field of six 3-year-old fillies, 4 1/4 lengths back, with Paying Off third. You Asked, the 6-5 favorite, finished last.

Ticket to Seattle broke on top and set fractions of 22.57 and 45.53 seconds before pulling away in the stretch.

Ticket to Seattle, owned by Puglisi Stable and trainer Steve Klesaris, returned $8.40. A Capote filly, she covered the six furlongs in 1:09.81 under Kendrick Carmouche.

Ticket to Seattle seemed on her way to the big time last year when she won her first two starts, both at Delaware. But she was eased in the Grade 1 Frizette at Belmont in her third start, and then caught a sloppy track back at Delaware and finished second in a minor stakes to end her juvenile season.

In two previous starts at 3, Ticket to Seattle was third in a Gulfstream allowance in February and second in a quickly run allowance dash at Delaware in April.
