Three of six at Aqueduct pays $118

With three horses in the sequence paying more than $50, it wasn't hard to believe that there were no winners in Friday's pick six at Aqueduct. But coming up with those three horses plus two other double-digit winners was so tough that handicappers who were able to correctly pick three winners were rewarded with a $118 consolation payoff.

There were 92 pick-six tickets that correctly had three winners.

No one at the New York Racing Association could be certain if this was the first time that having three winners resulted in a payoff in the pick six, but no one could think of another occasion when it did. The pick six made its debut at NYRA in 1985.

Most pick-six tickets Friday were dead after the first leg, when Toot Ta Roo ($74.50) won by 2 1/4 lengths. Toot Ta Roo was followed by Dr. Isom ($54.50), Star Halo ($24), Sydsational ($97), City Dweller ($4.70), and Anew ($13).

There was a carryover of $32,660 heading into Saturday's card.
