Three shippers for Bosselman

As of Wednesday, three shippers were expected for Fonner Park's signature event, Saturday's $75,000 Bosselman/Gus Fonner Stakes at 1 1/16 miles.

Wayzata Bay is the expected morning-line favorite from trainer Judi Hicklin's barn in what is shaping up to be a field of eight to 10. He will van over from Hicklin's base at Prairie Meadows on the morning of the race. Wayzata Bay comes into the race off a March 8 win in the $65,000 Challenger Stakes at Tampa Bay.

"We got on the van at Tampa and it was 85 degrees," Hicklin said. "We got off the van at Prairie Meadows and it was 25."

Hicklin said it probably has been 30 years since she had horses at Fonner - and they were show horses. She is looking forward to the trip.

"We always wanted to have something good enough to compete in this race," she said. "This is always the big race of the spring around here.

"I'll be there, I am the van driver," she added with a laugh.

Also expected to ship in for the race will be Habaneros, who is based at Prairie Meadows with trainer Ray Tracy. Robert Listen will bring up Aisle Two from his base at Will Rogers Downs in Oklahoma off an open allowance win going a mile on April 15.

The local contingent will be represented by the top three finishers from the Dowd Mile here on April 12: Blumin Attitude, Hot Chocolate, and Okie Dozer.
