Three more at Magna let go

Magna Entertainment has fired at least three top officials since announcing that the company lost $15.4 million in the third quarter.

The three officials are John Perotta, the company's vice president of operations; Andrew Gaughan, the vice president of new media initiatives; and Sue Floyd, the company's spokeswoman.

A message on each of the three officials' voice mails said they no longer worked at Magna and directed calls to Lynn Cook, who referred questions to Jim McAlpine, the company's chief executive. McAlpine has not returned repeated phone calls since Oct. 31, the day Magna announced the third-quarter loss.

McAlpine stated on a conference call with analysts that day that Magna would trim $5 million in expenses by the end of the year. He also announced that Roman Doroniuk, the company's chief operating officer, had left the company, six months after being hired.
